DANTEL #41

Dantel #41 focuses on lace. Placed at the entrance of the exhibition, this work welcomes the visitors and offers a new perspective on the migration story. The large lace pieces are collected by Batman's mother from the homes of various migrant families. This passage, sewn by Batman and his father, opens up to memory, homesickness and the future. Migration stories often focus on men: those who leave to work. Dantel #41 turns this gaze around and asks the question: what happens to the women who stay behind?

Their emotional, lived experience, often outside the public narrative, becomes visible here. The work revolves around duality. Migration divides families, men and women, and memories.

Dantel #41 weaves a story in which silence and memory carry as much weight as actions. The work invites us to slow down, to listen, and shows that migration is not one story.
